Grant received for next phase of restoration

The Edwards Store has received a $14,004 grant from the Oklahoma Historical Society Heritage Preservation Grant Program that will enable the next phase of restoration to be completed by February 2022.

The restoration project had previously received a grant from the program in 2020 that allowed for stabilization of the native rock chimneys. The east chimney was “dry stack” and needed mortar to prevent its imminent collapse. .

The recent grant will allow The Edwards Store to complete Phase One of the restoration process. This phase of restoration includes historic architectural documentation, physical interventions and demolition, archaeological documentation and initial restoration. Phase One of the initial restoration will begin with foundations and footings.

The Edwards Store wishes to thank the OHS Heritage Preservation Grant Program and state Rep. James Grego and Sen. Warren Hamilton for their support of this worthwhile program that is making restoration of this historic site possible.
